Yamaha Fazer stills, reviews and specifications

The FAZER is here,Yamaha has unveiled the sporty tourer in the capital and from the looks of it,the bike is a show topper for sure.Although the bikni fairing looks like a collage of R15 and R6 bits plonked onto an FZ16,the overall result is quite appealing

Most would agree that the 137 kg FZ16 needs a bit more grunt, but Yamaha feels that the 153 cc, 13.8 bhp motor is good enough to lug around the Fazer as well, this despite it putting on an additional four kilos. Other odds and ends of the FZ like the 'Mid-ship' muffler and the beefy 140/60 sectioned rear tyre remain intact on the new Yamaha.

Stills, Specifications of new version of Bajaj Pulsar 180

Bajaj Pulsar is considered to be one of the most sold bike model in the Indian market. The brand has been such a phenomenal success for Bajaj that investing in bikes which sport the tag has been paying back immensely. Bajaj have introduced four different versions of Pulsar (Pulsar 150,180,200,220) in the market and all have been selectively doing excellent business for the brand. Now, Bajaj have updated their 180cc Pulsar and this new version of the Pulsar 180 DTS-i, internally called the UG4 (short for upgrade four) is all set to conquer the hearts of the millions.
Most of the parts in the old Pulsar 180 DTS-i have been kept alive. The same wolf-eyed headlamp, the LED tail lamp and the kickless start feature have all been carried forward. The orange back-lit digital speedo and odometer and the cool white LED backlit controls and switch gear have been carried forward too. The other notable feature that reappearanced is the self cancelling turn indicator switch, that behaves like those in a car. In this method, the indicator bulb is automatically deactivated after the manoeuvre is made or after a preset time, if the turn is not made.
Features that are added in this new version of Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTS-i were the chunky and retro-looking three part handle bar, that offered the sturdy frontal looks for 200. It also added the slap-on tank flaps from the Pulsar 220, on either side of the oversized petrol tank. The other new features include the split seats for rider and pillion, the two-piece rear grab rail and the rubber anti-scratch pad on the petrol tank.

The 178.6cc engine has been re-tuned to squeeze out a bit more power. The Pulsar 180 DTS-i's four-stroke, air-cooled engine now generates 17.02 PS at 8,500 rpm. Peak torque available is 14.22 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The wheelbase of the dual tube chassis of the new Pulsar 180 DTS-i has been lengthened a bit to 1,345mm. The swing arm is now a new, thicker oval-section member and the front forks are also chunkier 130mm stroke. Braking power at the front is now provided by a 260mm disc and the same 130mm drum at the rear. The new Pulsar 180 DTS-i is now a heavier bike with its kerb weight at 147 kgs.
The new Pulsar 180 DTS-i is priced at about Rs 63,300/-.

The new apache RTR 180 gets larger sized RTR decals on tank scoops and removable rear mudguard. It also gets a new white back tachometer.
We can expect that the all new 180cc engine bike from TVS Company will kiss the Indian roads in a good manner. Christened as Menace, this sports bike has whole new looks with stepped-up performance.
Designed along similar lines of previous TVS Apache RTR models, TVS Apache Menace will steal an envying glance from the passers by for the no-front-scoop fairing. The bike gets a sportier look with part of exposed engine. The new TVS Apache RTR 180 Menace will be available in three colors of sporty yellow, flaming red and matt grey.

The Aprilia RSV-4 Superbike for 2009

A revolutionary design project has led to a truly unique motorcycle and Aprilia’s return to the Superbike World Championship. With 31 world championship titles, 250 MotoGP wins and 8 Superbike victories in the last sixteen years, Aprilia is a legend in modern motorcycling.

Aprilia motorcycles have dominated circuits all over the world thanks to unconventional technical solutions, experimentation and innovation and, sometimes, by revolutionising technology thought to be unchangeable. With this unique sporting heritage behind them, Aprilia is proud to present the RSV4, the bike with which Aprilia will return to the Superbike World Championship in 2009. This extraordinary machine has been conceived, designed and developed entirely by Aprilia Racing for competition use.

With four cylinders, 999 cc and top of the class power in the race-ready version, the RSV4 will make its debut in the 2009 Superbike World Championship. A V-four engine with total electronic management, and an exceptionally light and compact chassis are just some of the features that make this bike unique in the world of motorcycling. The Aprilia RSV4 is powered by the most revolutionary and most powerful engine ever developed by Aprilia.

The new engine uses multi-mapping ride-by-wire technology, a solution that opens up new horizons in engine control, and offers virtually infinite opportunities for power delivery and traction control (present as standard on the racing version). All components are naturally of the highest calibre. They include an Öhlins fork, rear monoshock and steering damper, Brembo monobloc brake calipers and forged aluminium wheels.

All in all, this ultra modern superbike is born to win.

Rumoured to make 200 bhp (or very close to that figure), the new Hayabusa is expected to top the ZZR1400 in performance. If it can do that without losing its easy-to-use personality, the new Hayabusa will go down as one of the truly great all-time motorcycle upgrades of all time. The engine, as we reported earlier, is shared with the Suzuki B-King. The 1340cc inline-four a higher compression ratio (12.5:1, up from 11.0:1), titanium valves, chrome-moly con-rods, and updated fuel injection. Suzuki claim a 12 percent boost in performance - a claimed 197 horsepower at the crank! Top speed is not likely to be more than 300km/h, though the new Hayabusa, which weighs 220kg, may accelerate harder than the Kawasaki ZZR1400.To get an idea of the speed and power that is involved; the 2007 Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 had an unlimited top speed of 315 km/h. The 2008 model is 1340cc and features 12% higher engine performance from its four stroke, four cylinder, liquid cooled engine. With a dry weight (no fuel) of 220 kg, this is a monster. This is the bike to drive if you want to leave a Ferrari in your rearview. A turbocharged version set the street bike speed record of 411.68km/h. Just remember, at over 300 km/h with no seatbelts, airbags, roll cage or vehicle body to protect you, your body is the crumple zone and inertia is not your friend. If you have the skills and the insurance to handle one of these, you are in for a wild, wild time.

Yamaha R15

Now R15 is also avialable in red also.....

Summary

R15 is the first model for the Indian market designed in the true supersport image and featuring a high-level balance of enjoyable running performance on winding roads. Packed full of state-of-the-art technologies, R15 boasts performance worthy of a supersport model and a body design that evokes the image of the YZF-R series and gives visual expression to the quality of its ride.

R15 is powered by 149.8cc Fuel Injected liquid cooled engine that will be producing an almost impossible 17bhp with maximum torque of 15 Nm at 7500rpm; which makes it like the most powerful bike under 200cc range and has a 6-speed Transmission. Yamaha is showcasing its potential for India with some real performance.

R15 has India’s first 150cc 4 valve engine with forged pistons, Deltabox frame & 6speed gear box. It’s overall length is 1995mm, overall width is 670mm and its wheels base is 1290mm. Since sporty YZF R15 is shorter too and its height is just 1070mm. YZF R15 features F 80/90 -17 inches tyres in the front and 100/80-17 inches tyres in the rear. Both the tyres are tubeless.

Design & Styling

The “R” Design: This characteristic of motorcycles designed by Yamaha as represented by the R series reflects the philosophy running through these models — expressing performance visually.

For example, YZF-R6 shows a strong body line that springs up in a single line from the rear axle to the pivot and then to the head pipe. This is a visual expression of the straight shape of the Deltabox frame. These elements are a visual expression of “frame rigidity.” Viewed from the side, the shape created by the side panel and the upper surface of the tank creates an impression of the center of gravity shifting to the front tire.

This is a visual representation of how the front tire grips the road in its sporty running performance. Needless to say, YZF-R1, with its athletic build, is also a visual expression of performance. A characteristic of the R series is that, when you view the machine, you get a sense of its concept and performance.

This philosophy has been fully transmitted to YZF-R15. An important point to note is that this motorcycle is not a scaled-down version of YZF-R1 or YZF-R6. YZF-R15’s design is based on having an excellent engine cooling method.

The shape of the cowling around the radiator area was determined so that the shapes of the air intake area and the rear outlet area where the air is scooped out are optimized to improve radiator efficiency. As for the outlet area, the mid-cowl area was designed using sculpturing 3D methods to create a three dimensional shape with a sense of volume. rst for the Indian market.

When viewed from the front, it gives a sense of volume that seems well beyond its 150cc displacement. This does not simply mean that it is voluminous, but that it is grounded in the Art of Engineering which transforms function into art.

Engine

YZF-R15 is equipped with this all-aluminum cylinder called the DiASil Cylinder and a forged piston, the same type of piston used in Yamaha’s supersport bikes. The fact that both the piston and cylinder of YZF-R15 are all-aluminum ensures excellent heat dissipation, eliminates heat-induced engine power loss, and helps improve fuel efficiency.

The DiASil Cylinder is given a special surface treatment to prevent oil evaporation from the cylinder’s surface and improve oil consumption. The cylinder also has excellent hardness and is considerably resistant to wear compared to conventional iron sleeves.

Additionally, the piston is made in a forging process, the optimum way of achieving lightweight designs. The reciprocating mass with the forged piston is approximately 20% less ( according to Yamaha test ) than with an engine of the same displacement fitted with a conventional cast aluminum piston. Resulting in an invigorating feeling when revving up. Conventional pistons are typically made in a casting process where molten aluminum is cast in a mold.

Yamaha developed its proprietary “controlled forging technology” in 1997, which enables mass production of forged aluminum pistons. These pistons have been used in sport models such as the R series. The same manufacturing process was used to develop YZF-R15. Forged pistons retain the excellent strength of aluminum alloys because the metallurgic matrix of aluminum is not affected during the fabrication process. Therefore, the piston can be made lighter and thinner.

Chassis

YZF-R15 is equipped with a linked type monocross suspension that delivers a comfortable ride and a cushioning performance that is less prone to bottoming out. In particular, it reduces annoying “sinking” when riding tandem. The linked monocross suspension consists of a link mechanism sandwiched between the rear arm and cushion unit to create changes in the lever ratio based on the lever effect. When the shock absorber is almost fully extended, the lever ratio is high and therefore the spring is soft, and the damper works softly as well.

As the shock absorber strokes in, the lever ratio gradually decreases and the spring rate increases. Eventually, when it is nearly fully stroked in, the lever ratio becomes small and the spring becomes hard and strong. The damper also becomes hard.

By making changes to the lever ratio in this way, we were able to achieve soft riding comfort as well as excellent damping under intense load conditions. The optimization of the frame and rear arm rigidity of the Deltabox Frame combined with the effects of the linked type monocross suspension achieve good riding comfort, agile handling, and turnability, hardly ever causing bottoming out.

Fuel Efficiency

In order to maximize the efficiency of the fuel injector, which injects the optimum amount of fuel for different amounts of intake air, YZF-R15 is equipped with a large 3-liter air cleaner. The duct area of the intake duct was designed optimally to optimize the flow of intake air.

Additionally, the use of a 4-valve combustion chamber (a combustion chamber with 2 intake and exhaust valves each) has allowed designers to layout the spark plug at the center of the combustion chamber for better flame propagation.

This also increases the total valve area relative to the 2-valve chambers for improved intake/exhaust efficiency (volumetric efficiency). YZF-R15 is fitted with a hemispherical 4-valve combustion chamber, a configuration that allows intake and exhaust valves to be laid out in the smallest size possible.

Following are some performance figures of Yamaha R15:

1) 0-60km/h : 3.0 sec
2) 0-100km/h : 9.0 sec
3) Top speed : 145km/h
4) Fuel economy : Around 35-45kmpl

Stills, Reviews, Specifications of SUZUKI GS150R.

Suzuki India enters the competition with the much awaited bike Suzuki GS150R (formally known as Lanza), As per Suzuki, the GS150R is inspired by the Superbike Suzuki GSX-R.

The looks of the bike is nice with direct competition with other bikes in the same category.

The Suzuki GS150R is powered with an engine of 149 cc which produces 13.8 bhp power and has a carburettor (no FI (Fuel Injection)) and also gets a Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS).

Although a 150cc bike it is more conveniently tuned for the City ride (this somewhat reminds me of Unicorn) unlike Pulsars which are more tuned for performance. The bike is also comes with an engine balancer technology which minimize the vibrations of engine and also with noise damping system.

Suzuki claims the GS150R can achieve 50kmpl in City and 55kmpl on the highway.

BMW's new S1000RR

BAVARIAN manufacturer BMW couldn't fail to show off its new models at the bi-annual Cologne Show. And it didn't disappoint - unveiling a stunning S1000RR superbike in race trim and paint.
BMW claims the 1,000cc inline-four engine kicks out 190bhp and weighs less than 190kg. If these figures are true, the S1000RR will weigh 10kg less and produce 10bhp more than its Japanese competitors!

In production form, the bike will have ABS and traction control to help owners harness the performance. Ruben Xaus and Troy Corser will be racing the BMW S1000RR in the 2009 World Superbike Championship.

BMW also unveiled revamped versions of its K-series motorcycles: the K1300S, K1300R and K1300GT. These all get a bigger bore, 1,293cc engine good for 175bhp; an all-new version of automatic suspension adjustment system called ESAII; optional quickshifter - the first on a mainstream production bike - and most importantly, conventional indicators, so no more oddball BMW flasher switches.

The fully-faired K1300S is BMW's answer to Suzuki's Hayabusa and this year will be available in two new colour schemes, orange and black/silver. The K1300S produces 175bhp and will come with optional quickshifter and self-adjusting suspension.

BMW's most powerful naked bike, the K1300R gets the same mods as the faired S version, plus a newly designed front fairing, headlight, radiator cowling and modified side panels for better wind protection.

Meanwhile, the K1300GT touring machine gets a slightly detuned version of the engine good for 160bhp, electrically adjustable windscreen, new dash, dual seat, adjustable handlebars and new panniers.

Triumph flew the flag for the Brits with the unveiling of the updated Daytona 675, restyled Bonneville and the recently launched Street Triple R, plus the new Thunderbird and a special edition Tiger.

Royal Enfield was there too with its all-new Bullet 500 Classic. Its predecessor, the four-speed iron-barrelled 500cc Bullet, had been in continuous production for more than 50 years and the original Royal Enfield Bullet was created in 1932, so this new model has an impressive heritage that stretches back over 76 years.

At the heart of the new Bullet 500 Classic is an all-new, fuel-injected 500cc Unit Construction Engine. Frame and bodywork are new too.

Most of the Italian manufacturers will be unveiling their new models on their home turf at November's Milan Show, but there were exceptions.

Aprilia showed off changes to its 2009 line-up in Cologne, starting with the Shiver GT, the half-faired version of last year's Shiver. The semi-fairing gives some wind-protection to make this Shiver more of a sports tourer.

Tweaks to its Dorsoduro 750 include changes to the 750cc, 90° engine to make it more 'aggressive'. Sounds promising. The bike now also comes with optional ABS, as does Aprilia's twist and go 839cc Mana.

Meanwhile, the MXV and RXV enduro and supermoto bikes have been overhauled. The V-twin 450 and 550 competition bikes have seen 2kg slashed and a switchable ignition mapping system that can be adjusted for hard or soft terrain.

Most exciting is the road-going version of the RSV4, the bike that will take on Ducati's 1098, the Japanese litre bikes and of course BMW's S1000RR in the 2009 World Superbike Championship.

The production version will be powered by a 999cc 65° V-four engine that should punt out 180bhp to keep it competitive against Ducati's 1098R. It too is packed with technology including multi-mapping ride-by-wire and traction control. It comes with Öhlins forks, rear monoshock and steering damper, Brembo monobloc radially mounted brake callipers and forged aluminium wheels.

We're expecting Ducati to make an almighty splash at Milan, although it still graced the Germans with its presence and proudly displayed its new Monster 1100. The 1100 shares its frame and styling with the 696 Monster unveiled at last year's Milan show, but with improved suspension and a larger, air-cooled engine.

We also got a good view of its new GT1000 Touring, a touring version from the Sport Classic family. And who knows what Milan will bring from the Bologna manufacturer.
